Food Preparation Teacher

The Future Stars Academy (FSA) is seeking passionate and experienced Food Preparation Instructors to join our dynamic team. As a Food Preparation Instructor, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality appliance and cooking technique training to FSA students, members, and clients. Whether through in-person demonstrations at the Centre, online sessions, or on-location classes, you will be responsible for delivering engaging culinary and hospitality courses focused on baked goods and desserts.

Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Development:

  • Deliver assigned culinary and hospitality courses in accordance with the academy's program.
  • Focus on baked goods and desserts, incorporating a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse student learning styles.
  • Provide instruction in both theory and practice of Culinary Arts.

Student Support:

  • Support student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Advise program students academically and engage in outreach to potential students.
  • Ensure timely access to students and maintain open communication channels.

Kitchen Supervision:

  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of food production within a teaching kitchen.

Academic Engagement:

  • Participate in non-teaching assignments, including recruitment, instructional development, academic advising, registration, and other departmental activities.
  • Contribute to annual assessment reporting and reaccreditation processes.

Work-Life Balance:

  • This is an Independent contract position with opportunities for remote work or onsite teaching, promoting flexibility and work-life balance.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in culinary instruction, with expertise in baked goods and desserts.
  • Knowledge of diverse teaching methods and materials to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Previous experience in supervising food production within a teaching kitchen.
  • Commitment to participate in non-teaching assignments and contribute to academic and departmental activities.
  • Availability to teach 15-18 credit hours each term.
